The Best Cataclysm Private Server: AstralWoW

I know it seems a little tacky that I'm actually advertising for a private server for WoW out there, but honestly, this server deserves a mention. Astral WoW is honestly the best private server out there if you want an authentic levelling experience; in essence, it's a blizz-like server that has drop rates and experience rates identical to the authentic MMORPG. There are two realms currently: Emberflame (Cataclysm) and Azurelyte (WotLK).

Diablo III Has Been Released!

And so the burning hells of the Sanctuary have finally been set loose upon us. So how many of us have called in sick at work to battle against the demonic forces? What class is going to be your first class? All pretty legitimate questions. However, the most important question is: how do I prepare myself?

Well first of all, go in stores and buy yourselves a physical copy or purchase a digital version of the game online. Install the files as soon as possible, in fact, Blizzard had unlocked the encrypted Diablo files yesterday so you could've been one step ahead and installed the game since yesterday and then purchased the CD key online.

Create a BattleTag, it's required to play Diablo III and it serves as your identity within game. And remember folks: it is launch day. Blizzard has said especially today, that if the server capacity is full, they will add a short queue to the login interface or possibly display an error for people logging in until other people have logged out.

Once logged in, quickly excrete any waste products which may have been produced as a result of excitement. Rush downstairs and bring your entire fridge up; make sure you have lots of sugary drinks. You are now set for a Diablo-thon.

And finally, be sure to comment on what your impressions of the game are! Enjoy the game guys, it's been a heck of a long wait!

Guild Wars 2: The Elementalist

In Guild Wars 2, the elementalist profession fills the mage archetype class however the mechanics of this class are remarkably different, and in some cases complex, in comparison to mage classes found in other RPG-style games. The elementalist channels the natural forces, bending fire, earth, water and air at her bidding. Conventionally, what the elementalist lacks in physical toughness she makes up with massive burst damage; there's no need for defence if the enemy is decimated before it even reaches a melee radius. Despite the sheer damage capabilities of this profession, it's the versatility that makes the class formidable.

The "Wow-Killer"

When will the reign end?
In 2004, Blizzard launched the most successful MMO to date: World of Warcraft. Eight years on from that date and the game is still number one. WoW has become a benchmark for nearly every MMO developer. Every time a new MMO is about to launch, fans eagerly nickname the game the "Wow-Killer". It's safe to say that during the eight year period since its release no individual game has come close to achieving its fan-based nickname as World of Warcraft still reigns supreme with over ten million subscribers. WoW has managed to sit comfortably atop the throne thanks to its thriving community, regular content updates and a mellow-learning curve. Every time a new title is on the horizon, we ask ourselves the same question: "Is this the game that will topple WoW from its title". The answer is plainly "no".

Guild Wars 2: The Warrior

With Guild Wars 2 just around the corner, I decided to give you guys a flavour of each profession. Every Monday I shall post an in-depth analysis for all of the eight professions. First of all professions define a character's skill set, attributes, armour much like character classes in other RPG games. The warrior is your archetypical melee class; a brute who relies on raw strength to devastate his enemies while donning heavy armour to withstand the strongest of blows.

The Elder Scrolls Online

The first screenshot revealed...
After much anticipation, the MMO version of The Elder Scrolls role-playing franchise has officially been announced. It's going to be developed by ZeniMax Online Studios. The MMO will allow players to traverse the entire continent of Tamriel a thousand years before the events of Elder Scrolls V. This includes the provinces of Cyrodiil and Skyrim. Not many specifics are available yet, but according to Game Informer you'll be able to play as one of three factions, take part in open-world player versus player combat in the province of Cyrodiil and vie for control of the throne of the Emperor. I'll leave you guys to drool over the teaser trailer for now!

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 Release Date

When Activision announced the next installment to the Call of Duty franchise was going to be Black Ops 2, I just naturally assumed that we'd receive the same old Cold War theme. However my prediction was literally miles (or years) off.

The Final Spotlight Video: The Wizard

The final spotlight video has been released and you guessed right (exemplary deduction skills my friend). It's the wizard, my personal favourite! It's simply a glass cannon like most magi classes in RPG games. Be sure to check out my in-depth wizard post if you haven't already for a more literary presentation of the class. Just 2 weeks till the game comes out people; hang in there!

Crysis 3 Stunning Trailer Revealed

EA has released the debut gameplay trailer for Crysis 3 with the game being officially announced and detailed earlier in the month along with a special Hunter Edition of the shooter. The third numbered game in Crytek's FPS series sees players take on the role of Prophet as he returns to New York, only to discover the city's been encased in a giant Nanodome created by the corrupt Cell Corporation. As with the predecessors, the graphics are lush and vibrant. Hopefully the gameplay's strength will match the visuals.

If you’ve got a valid Battle.net account, then you’re eligible to download a copy of the Diablo 3 open beta client and play for free all weekend. The Diablo III open beta will run until 10 AM PST April 23rd, and is the last big stress test for the Battle.net servers ahead of the official May 15 launch date.

Diablo III: The Monk Spotlight Video

Following up the previous spotlight videos on the Demon Hunter and the Barbarian, Blizzard have posted the next video detailing the next class: the Monk. The video beautifully displays the Monk's agility and strength which explains why he only wears a loincloth while battling the demonic hordes of the Sanctuary. If you do require an in-depth look at the Monk be sure to visit my early class post. I won't say much more so enjoy the video and be sure to comment on what you think of the class!

Tribes Ascend Officially Launches!

This is one online FPS you definitely want to check out. Hi-Rez Studios announced that they've completed the beta test for Tribes: Ascend. You can download the game and starting playing for free right away; it's definitely one of the best free online FPS games out there at the moment. The video above (courtesy of IGN) gives a brilliant overview of the game as it stands.

250,000 More MoP Beta Invites Are On Their Way!

Blizzard has sent out another 250,000 (yes that's a quarter million) beta invites to eager Annual Pass subscribers in order to quench their ravaging thirst for Blizzard's upcoming expansion: Mists of Pandaria. As the number suggests, 250,000 invites takes some time to send out, so don't be disheartened if you don't see an email right away! And even then, I'd highly recommend to heading over to the Battle.net account page to make sure for certain that you're really in- there are far too many scam emails at the moment! Here's the source.

Some irrelevant speculation now. So combined with the 550,000 invites sent a few weeks ago, this new wave of invites now makes the total stand at 800,000 invites. 800,000 beta testers is something I have not witnessed from Blizzard for any former expansion/game; I'm guesstimating that Blizzard's intentions are to ship this expansion by August rather than the typical November/December window. It only makes sense right?

Starcraft II: Heart Of The Swarm Multiplayer Update

Blizzard felt that the some of the multiplayer aspects of Heart of the Swarm just weren't up to scratch since the expansion was last unveiled at Blizzcon 2011. Dustin Browder, lead designer on Starcraft II, has written a post on the Starcraft community site outlining the changes to the races since they were last on show.

Diablo III: The Barbarian Is Unleashed

Blizzard have released their latest class video, the Barbarian, for their Diablo III:Darkness Falls, Heroes Rises page. The video is just pure awesome so I won't waste much time yapping on. The spotlight video truly places an emphasis on the barbarian's brute strength and reveals some footage from Act 2 and Act 3 (as well as a strange alien worm-looking monstrosity at the end); Blizzard has done a stellar job with the videos so far and I'm highly anticipating the other videos!

League of Legends Impressions

Terribly sorry for the long hiatus people. Now that exams are approaching thick and fast, I decided to revisit the wondrous world of blogging. Wise decision, ey? Okay enough of this irrelevant nonsense, you people aren't here for my sob story. Let's get straight to business.
